Important information for visitors

Until summer 2025, there is a new visitor route at the National Maritime Museum while we carry out essential improvements to the Museum's roof. Most galleries will still be open as normal, and special exhibitions are currently free for all visitors. However, the Great Map and AHOY! will be closed for the duration of the works. Bring your unique penguin accessory or full costume in life, in our free, drop-in family workshop, right on time for the Penguin Parade.

Join the Penguin Parade!

4pm | Meet on the North West Lawns

At 4pm join the Penguin Parade as we march down to the River Thames for a final look at the RRS Sir David Attenborough and celebrate the Ice Worlds festival coming to a close.

Wear your proudest penguin costume or accessory and do your best penguin impression!

Create your penguin accessory

Visit the National Maritime Museum on 30 October and join in this fun-filled workshop for the whole family.

Create your own penguin hat and wings, learn more about the many different species of penguin, and decide which one will inspire your accessories. You can then wear your creations during the Penguin Parade itself.
