In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We have ordered Captain Muir, Commander-in-Chief of the squadron going to the west Indies, to have men of the BREDAH and SUNDERLAND above the middle complement, put aboard other ships of the squadron. We should have the names of all Surgeons and the ships they are appointed to, as well as their former service and you are directed to write to Surgeons Hall and to give us an account. Nathaniel Hawes is appointed Surgeon of the GRIFFIN and now acts as Surgeon's Mate of the QUEEN. We send you herewith a list of ships to be fitted for the Straits and foreign service and are to be victualled for 8 months. Captain Greenhill who commands the GOSPORT is bound for the West Indies as is Captain Dyer of the DOLPHIN. You are to have two thirds of the pay due to them to be paid, either to them or to such persons who are legally empowered to receive it, taking care that His Majesty be made a saver.
