Maguire's wife was the daughter of John B.Thayer (1894-1945) an American teenager who survived the sinking of the TITANIC by jumping into the sea. He wrote his own account of the tragedy (published 1940) and took his own life in 1945. Geoffrey Marcus was an author. Ken Marschall (b 1950) is an American artist, responsible for the artwork on the jacket of "The Night Lives on", known for his paintings of famous ocean liners, including the TITANIC. Clinton S. Mathews and Tony Mathews are great-grandsons of Helen Churchill Candee, who survived the sinking of the TITANIC and went on to become a noted explorer/author.
