In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
You are directed to have the officers and company of the DEPTFORD ketch, paid the wages due to them to the time she was lost at Virginia. Also, you are to propose a person whom you shall judge fitting to be employed as Master Attendant at Plymouth. Mr Nicholas Barrett has proposed selling their Majesties a small frigate now building at Shoreham. You are to consider the quality of this ship, whether she is likely to be a good sailor and fitting in other respects to be a man-of-war and, if so, you are treat with him about buying her and report to us on what terms he will sell her, giving your opinion on what is fitting to be done.
