The County class guided missile destroyer Hampshire (1961) in the fitting out basin of John Brown & Co Ltd at Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The ship is berthed port side to the quay. The photographer is on a raised position on the quayside abreast 'B' turret looking to starboard and aft showing part of 'B' turret, the face of the superstructure, the command platform and the MRS3 director. The ship's badge is fixed to the face of the superstructure. A lieutenant-commander, a commodore and two shipyard officials are on the enclosed bridge and the lieutenant-commander is making notes. On the opposite side of the fitting out basin is the Cunard ship Franconia (1955), ex Ivernia, being converted to a combined cruise ship and transatlantic liner.
