Seascape in the Atlantic

A seascape towards an empty horizon showing a calm sea, near the mid-Atlantic Ridge. Everett has used tonal harmony to explore the effects of sunlight on the sea and sky. The sea is shown grey with darker and lighter undulated paint to indicate the movement of waves. The sky is painted in pale washes with coloured patches indicating a layer of cloud in the centre of the sky and at the top of the painting. Brilliant light plays on the surface of the water towards the horizon to indicate sun shining through the clouds. The painting is inscribed '6N 20E' and signed with artist's monogram.
