The photographer, an apprentice serving on board the ship, has captioned this negative "The curse of an apprentice's life! - The Chipping Hammer". The ship was berthed at Buenos Aires at the time. Slide 22 from the "Apprentice Boy", Captain Henry P. Bird's lecture about his life as an apprentice for Bank Line in the period 1937-1941. The lecture consists of 39 slides.
