A yacht ashore
A yacht is shown grounded during a race. The small boat in the foreground is rescuing the yacht’s spar which has broken in half and put the yacht out of the race. The yachtsmen are shown precariously perched on the rails or in the cabin hatch. The monochrome palette of the painting, combined with close attention to detail, creates the effect of a photograph.
The painting is signed ‘C.M. PADDAY’ and is one of a pair with ‘A Yacht Luffing’, BHC1281.
