Commemorative ingot depicting 'Nippon Maru'

Rectangular shaped ingot. Obverse: Starboard broadside view of the 'Nippon Maru', sail set. Inscription: 'NIPPON MARU'. Reverse: Inscription, 'NIPPON MARU 1592. Flagship of the vast Japanese fleet that invaded Korea in 1592, the "Nippon Maru" was a warship of the Atake type. Her most significant features were her double bottom and the watertight shutters within her hull. The shutter could be closed to confine leakage if her hull became damaged in battle.'
