'Thetis' (1786)
No scale. A sketch showing port and starboard profiles of the figurehead of the 'Thetis' (1786), an East Indiaman.
There are several notes on the drawing, apparently made at different times. These are as follows:
"Head of Thetis East Indiaman. The first standing figure - Invented and contrived by myself and drawn by Mr Hoare - DB"
"No 1 Lower Queen Street - Rotherhithe Feb 20 1832 - DB"
"Found in Old book belonging to Daniel Brent, shipbuilder Rotherhithe 1764-1832"
On the reverse of the drawing is a portrait of Mr. Prince Hoare dated 1 July 1807.
