On board a five masted Ta-Pu-To trader type junk while under sail off Weihaiwei. The photographer is in the waist looking aft from abaft the mainmast showing the poop with the rudder windlass, the quarter mast on the port side, an oil lamp on the starboard side and the mizzen mast aft. Single lug sails are set on each mast and a crew member is sitting astride the rudder windlass. The photographer's ship was at Weihaiwei in the periods 3 June to 21 July 1937, 14 to 17 August 1937, 6 September to 7 October 1937, 8 June to 12 August 1938 and 20 August to 4 September 1938. Negatives numbers P34355 to P34362 inclusive are on board the same vessel.
