Brynhild

Scale:Unknown. A contemporary half block model of the cutter-rigged 23 Metre class racing yacht Brynhild(1907). The hull is carved from a solid block of wood(?) and is painted a metallic bronze colour below the waterline with creamy white topsides above to the level of the gunwale. It has a relatively flat sheer with a curved spoon bow running smoothly aft to the ballast keel. The sternpost is raked aft and is fitted with a half elliptical-shaped rudder, above which is a long, narrow and tapering counter stern. The whole model is mounted on a rectangular-shaped mahogany backboard with rounded corners and edge on which is inscribed "Brynhild 23 metre Built by Camper & Nicholson's Ltd Gosport 1907".There is also an old Science Museum display label pinned the to the backboard under the stern.
