Passenger vessel; Canoe
Scale: Unknown. A model of a double outrigger canoe made entirely of wood. The hull has been carved from a single piece of wood which is unpainted and unvarnished. Rubbing strakes have been attached to the entire length of the gunwales. There is a single settee sail on a bamboo spar the mast of which is positioned amidships just aft of the forward outrigger booms. The settee sail is a quadrilateral fore-and-aft rigged sail similar to a lateen rigged sail except with the fore corner cut off. There are two pairs of outrigger booms and at either end of the booms extensions have been lashed that point downwards. The outriggers themselves are made from wood planks that have been sharpened to a point at their ends. A simple rudder is attached to the stern by ropes. There are two thwarts, fore and aft.
