Passenger vessel; Canoe

Scale: Unknown. A model of a Solomon Islands outrigger canoe made entirely in wood. The hull has been carved from a single piece of wood and the raised bulwarks, thwarts, and outrigger frame have been attached to the hull with either straw or raffia. The hull is double ended, narrow, and high sided. The outrigger is also made from a single piece of wood and is mounted to the outrigger frame by V shaped wooden poles tied together with straw or raffia. The model is unpainted and unvarnished. On a label attached to the model is "1959 tour Solomon Is. P. 124 To the Prince of Wales From the children of Honiara, Guadalcanal Is. 19.3.59."
