Document signed by William Lowndes, 1652-1724, Secretary to the Treasury (from 1695) under King William III and Queen Anne

The Treasury has signed a Warrant for the felling of timber in the New Forest. The timber is not thought to be of a quality fit for use by the Navy and is to be used for repainting Burleigh Lodge in the Forest. Instructions are given for the Purveyor of the Navy to supervise the felling and to ensure that if any timber is sold it shall not be of a quality that could be used by the Navy.
