In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Giving consent for the alterations that the Navy Board has proposed for the Yard at Chatham including the removal of the Mast Houses in the new Yard and the depositing of masts on marshland adjoining and that the Mast Dock - which has become insanitary - is to be filled in as there is very little room for laying timber. Also, the Smith's forge is to be moved to a new position between the Old and New Docks near the Plank Yard and the latter should be enlarged for fire safety purposes. The estimate which was enclosed is also approved.
