In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Acting on instructions the Navy Board has made out a Bill for Peter Gandy a French refugee who has served as a Midshipman Extraordinary aboard the DEFIANCE together with his servant for his pay from the time he was discharged to the time he joined the NEPTUNE. It transpires that Gandy is also a pensioner. The Board therefore wishes to know whether other French pensioners who are born as Midshipmen should also receive pay. The Admiralty answers in the affirmative.
