In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Your report to this Board of 30 July gave an account of the failure of Captain William Harman during his command of the ADVICE from 23 June 1693 to 8 October 1694 in the West Indies. Captain Harman was killed in service on board the ADVICE and since his death several of his papers relating to the passing of his instructions may have miscarried. You are directed to have his wages paid from the time he commanded the ADVICE, notwithstanding that his commission has not been confirmed by this Board and that he has not complied with his instructions. You are to take care that the King is made a saving for either wages or victuals for any men borne longer than they ought to have been, or for supernumeraries without order.
