In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
You advised us in your letter of 7 August to our Secretary, that the new 6th Rate building at Shoreham by Mr Collins and Mr Chatfield, will be ready to launch about a month hence. She is to be named DUNWICH and established with the same number of men and rating of guns allowed for the JERSEY. You are directed to have her launched and fitted for service in the Channel and victualled for 10 weeks for her highest complement of men, with all dispatch. She is to be entered on the list of the Royal Navy accordingly. You have informed us that the contractors offer to set up another 6th Rate, Fireship or 5th Rate in her stead and you are directed to treat with them for a 5th Rate of the dimensions of the new 5th Rates last ordered to be built.
