In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
There is reason to suspect that there are several sums of money charged on the books of the FALCON being for clothes and tobacco for the seamen which were not issued to them. You are directed to look into this and to see that no part of the clothes and tobacco set off on the books be allowed but what is made out to you has been delivered to the men. In particular, you are to have the 24 shillings which is charged to John Holmes taken off as the Steward, at his attending this Board, could not affirm that he had received anything for this sum.
