Document signed by Josiah Burchett (c.1666-1746), Secretary to the Admiralty (1694-1742)
The Commander of the SAMUEL & HENRY writes that notwithstanding what you advised him in your letter of 6 August that you had asked Trinity House to send down pilots to the SAMUEL & HENRY and the SMIRNA MERCHANT, none had come. You are directed to give orders that the pilots may be sent immediately to the ships and you are to make inquiry as to why they were not sent down before now, the ships having been detained on that account. Letter from Trinity House dated 17 August stating that pilots had been appointed to take the ships to Yarmouth Roads.
