Document signed by Josiah Burchett (c.1666-1746), Secretary to the Admiralty (1694-1742)

Their Lordships have been informed that the Pilot who ran the HENRY prize aground on the Blacktail Sands, for which he was to be tried by Court Martial, has since been appointed Pilot to the SMIRNA MERCHANT hired ship at the Buoy of the Nore. Their Lordships have commanded an account of how this Pilot came to be appointed and how he got his liberty before examination by Court Martial.
