In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Petition of Elizabeth Gibson widow of Nicholas Gibson, Butcher on board the FALCON under Captain Bryant, late Commander. The ship was taken by the French in the West Indies soon after which Nicholas Gibson died leaving his widow in very poor circumstances with the charge of two children. The Captain stopped 3 months wages due to money owed on the Slop Book for tobacco and clothes. Elizabeth Gibson claimed that her husband never took tobacco and asks that the 3 months wages be paid to her. Navy Board asked to look into the matter and report the Admiralty Board.
