Document signed by Josiah Burchett (c.1666-1746), Secretary to the Admiralty (1694-1742)

We have considered the survey of the LYME by the Officers at Portsmouth and approve of the works proposed to be done. Orders have been sent to Sir George Rooke to order the first ship sailing from Spithead to the eastward to convoy the vessels from Portsmouth freighted with hemp for Chatham and Woolwich. Orders are likewise sent to the SMIRNA FACTOR at Plymouth to call for the other vessels in case they are not come away.
