In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

We have considered your letter of 26 August, together with that of enclosed from the Commissioners of the Victualling, concerning the over-issues of provisions this year and the want of money. You are directed to order the Commissioners to solicit this from the Lords of the Treasury. Sir William Gose has offered this Board the GOSFRIGHT frigate, now in the River Thames, of 350 tons and 36 guns, to serve as a man-of-war. You are to have the ship surveyed and report your opinion as to whether she is fitted and if so, what number of men and nature of guns may be proper. The ANTELOPE hospital ship, upon arrival at the Nore, is to be fitted by her owners and is to carry no more than 44 guns, 20 on the gun deck, 20 more on the upper deck and 4 on the quarter deck. You are to give your opinion as to whether she can carry this number and what number of men will be proper for her.
