In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Your letter to us of 21 April 1692 advised us that you perused the account of Mr Phineas Bowles and how he had disposed of £1500 impressed to him for defraying contingency charges of the fleet commanded by the late Lord Dartmouth Notwithstanding that he had provided receipts, you did not think yourselves sufficiently empowered to allow these without orders from this Board. You are directed to allow those disbursements ordered by Lord Dartmouth toward clearing his imprest, and what money has been allowed by this Board shall be due to Mr Bowles on account after this and other imprests standing against him are cleared.
