In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We have received a petition from the widow of Joseph Tippior, setting forth that her husband was in a merchant ship in the West Indies, the KATHERINE, Robert Scottin, Master, hired by the Governors of Barbados for an expedition against Martinique. Her husband was appointed by Sir Francis Wheeler to command one of the boats and was killed in action. You are directed to inquire into the matter and if you find what is stated to be true, make an allowance to the Petitioner and her children according to His Majesty's Establishment of Bounty to the Widows and Children of Seamen Slain in Fight.
