In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Officers at Plymouth Yard together with the Commander and Officers of the EXPRESS Advice Boat have reported that she has been forced into Plymouth due to heavy weather, casting doubt on her fitness to embark on service with the East Indies Company. The Admiralty points out that the ship had previously been thought fit for that service and wishes to know why there has now been a change of heart. They also want to know why she and the ST. JOHN have taken so long to fit out. Copies of letters are enclosed. If, however, she is still considered suitable repairs are to be put in hand immediately. Notwithstanding this instruction members of the Navy Board together with the Surveyor are to attend at the Admiralty tomorrow morning.
