In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Enclosure: Continuation of a copy of Captain Edward Windsor's letter dated 7th February 1695/6 (See Item 111) in which he relates that due to the ship making water he was forced to keep the pumps manned continuously during recent bad weather giving the reason the planking of her bottom is only one to one and a quarter inches in thick and that the sheathing has been over nailed ruining the timber that it secures; and that when the hull strains it acts like a spring. He continues by stating that the ship is over-loaded with provisions and carries much more than is usual. He believes that her masts and rigging are too heavy for her. What appears to be an adverse comment on the excessive amount of sail she can carry is also made.
