In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Captain Henry Middleton of the FALCON has been found guilty of an error of judgement at a Court Martial aboard the ST. MICHAEL in the Medway in not running his ship ashore to evade capture by the French and is to forfeit three months wages; but the remainder of his pay and that of the Officers is to be paid up until the time the ship was captured. The outcome of the enquiry into the loss of the POST BOY Advice Boat has concluded that her Master & Commander and Officers were not negligent and should receive their wages up until similarly captured.
