In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The Earl of Romney has informed the Admiralty Commissioners by his letter of the 26th March last that there is now at Dover a French Sloop lately taken from the Enemy which is deemed one of their best Sailers, an extract of which is enclosed.
We direct you to cause a Survey to be taken of her, and if you judge her fitting to serve as an Advice Boat, order her to be bought for that purpose on the best terms you can, and solicit the Treasury for Money to do this, sending us the amount of the Charge.
You are to report to us the number of Men and number and nature of Guns you think fitting to be established on her.
