In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

A Petition has been presented to this Board stating that John Morris, late Second Lieutenant of the ESSEX, was killed in a fight on board the THOMAS & ELIZABETH Fireship at La Hougue, whereby his Journals of the proceedings of the ESSEX were lost. We direct you to cause his Wages for his service on the ESSEX to be paid to such Persons as shall lawfully be empowered to receive them, if you have no other objection than the want of the said Journals.
