In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

The Commander of the SPEEDWELL at Kinsale cannot get any provisions there. We enclose an extract of his letter and direct you to order the Commissioner of the Victualling to have a quantity of provisions lodged at that port. It is His Majesty's pleasure that the ships in the West Indies and America, should be relieved yearly and you are asked to give your opinion as to whether it may be convenient to have the ships going to relieve them carry provisions and stores. Captain John Leake, Commander of the OSSORY is charged by your Board with bearing supernumeraries and has also received a company of soldiers of Col. Venner's Regiment from the PLYMOUTH, and on the same day was ordered to cruise and therefore prevented from reducing the number on board to his complement. You are directed to have the victuals for the soldiers allowed on his account. The Captain of the RESOLUTION with two lieutenants and a number of men are to proceed Portsmouth from Chatham by land. You are to allow them the usual conduct money.
