In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We sent to your office warrants appointing Kirton and Goldfinch, Boatswain and Gunner of the SUN PRIZE at Plymouth. But as they have not yet been tried for the loss of the ST JOHN, Advice Boat, we do direct you to return the warrants to us. We send you a Petition of Peter Moody, George Hicks, and John Treble, together with a copy of the Captain of the VICTORY's letter concerning them, and a certificate from one of the officers employed westward in pressing men for this ship. You are directed to have the pricks put upon them for the time they were absent taken off. Captain Hindley having failed in several particulars to comply with his instructions, we have thought fit to mulct him 2 months pay due to him for his service in the PRUDENCE. You are directed to mulct him accordingly and pay him the remainder of what is due to him.
