In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Our order to you dated 6 June 1694 stated the time we had agreed for ships coming into port to clean and refit, off-loading their guns and powder and, when cleaned, taking the same on board ready for sea. Copies of which order we directed you to send to Commissioners and several Clerks of the Cheque for them to communicate to Commanders immediately their ships entered port. Notwithstanding that this was repeated to you on 10 March 1694/5, we have frequently noted that ships have been much longer in cleaning and refitting than the appointed time. You are directed to give an account of what methods you have used to put the orders into execution.
