Document signed by William Bridgeman, c.1646-1699, English civil servant and Secretary to the Admiralty between 1694 and 1698.

Your letter of yesterday about the exchange of boatswains of the ST PAUL and the SCARBOROUGH and the readiness of the latter has been seen by their Lordships who have directed that the exchange take place. If the Boatswain of the SCARBOROUGH is not well enough to come aboard he is to attend when he has recovered his health. We observe that the SCARBOROUGH is to stay at Deptford for want of sailing orders but finding that her commander has orders to go down to the Hope as soon as she is fitted, I shall write to him to know the reason for his stay.
