In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Our order of 13 November directed you to treat with the owners of two vessels mentioned, to proceed as advice boats to Jamaica in ballast. We understand from Mr Heathcote and other Jamaica merchants that [Mr Henes], Master of a sloop, has offered to go for £200 ready money with leave to carry 4 tons of goods instead of ballast. You are directed to treat with him to proceed to Jamaica as he proposes on the best terms you can, but he is not to take more than 4 tons of goods. You are likewise to treat with the owners of the ROSE galley, or any of the vessels mentioned in our letter, to proceed to Jamaica in ballast only, there to be discharged.
