Document signed by William Bridgeman, c.1646-1699, English civil servant and Secretary to the Admiralty between 1694 and 1698.

Our order of 26 October directed that you consider with the Commissioners of the Registry, the late Act of Parliament for the Registering of Seamen, and to lay before their Lordships what defects are in the Act and what alterations and additions may be made to make it more effective, the King intending to recommend this to Parliament. His Majesty asks that such account should be given to him next Sunday. I am directed by their Lordships that you will hasten this to them so that they may consider these before they lay it before His Majesty.
