In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Captain Hughes, Commander of the DEFIANCE, bound for the Canaries, has written to our Secretary on 15 November and states that the ship will be much hindered for want of Purser's necessary and extra necessary money. We send you an extract of his letter and direct that orders be given to the Commissioners of the Victualling to furnish the Purser therewith and the Pursers of all other ships bound on foreign voyages at such time as they shall indent with them.
