In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

The ships now at Spithead which cannot now be cleaned and refitted at Chatham are to be brought to Portsmouth. You are to present to this Board a scheme of the times you propose to dock and undock each ship at Chatham and Portsmouth which are still to be cleaned and refitted. Any work to be done on the ships in Portsmouth Harbour which cannot be performed by the end of February should be postponed, in order that the work on the ships at Spithead is put in hand and timely dispatched. You are to give orders that as soon as any of the ships fitting out at Chatham are ready to sail to Blackstakes, they should enter men and their commanders are to inform them that if any absent themselves after entry they will be entered as Run and punished.
