In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
You are directed to have the DEFIANCE in the Medway, furnished with a tender and to have the several ships fitting out at Portsmouth furnished with tenders so that they can enter men. You are also directed to have the ships at Chatham, as soon as they come to Blackstakes, to be furnished with tenders. We have considered your letter of 20 November, and the copy of that from the Commissioners of the Victualling, stating that they cannot supply Pursers of ships on foreign voyages with necessary money. You are directed to send a copy of this letter to the Treasurer of the Navy so that he may solicit the Treasury for money.
