In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

We direct you to cause the SHEERNESS, on her arrival at Chatham, to be sheathed and fitted there for a voyage to the West Indies, and victualled for eight months of proper Species for that voyage for her middle complement of Men.
When she returns to the Nore, and not before, you are to cause her present number of Men to reduced to the middle complement established on her, and that what Men she has above this complement are to be turned over into the RUBY.
Notwithstanding our late Orders to you for fitting the EXPERIMENT for a voyage to the West Indies, we direct you to forbear doing this, and give Orders for her having her highest complement of men as she is now to serve in the Channel.
