In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We have resolved that no Protections shall be of Force which are not numbered and dated after November 1st last.
We therefore direct you to cause your Protections to be renewed and numbered and dated after that day, taking care not to protect more Men than the Service requires. You are to give the same Orders to the Victualling Commissioners.
It is proposed to us by the Flag officers that the Pay Bounty Money and Conduct Money of the Press Gangs should be paid to the Captain or any other Officer empowered by the Press Gangs to receive the same.
We ask your opinion on this, and also inform us what number of Men came into the Fleet last year on account of the Bounty Money.
By our Order yesterday we asked, for the satisfaction of the House of Lords' Commissioners, about the condition of the several Ships of the Navy.
We direct you to let us know when we can have this Report.
