In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The Victualling Commissioners have given us an account today that the Enemy have taken one of the Victualling Ships, the MARY, on passage to the Straights and taken her to Brest. Having lately directed them to cause the Provisions on another of the three Victualling Ships intended for the Straights, but left behind at Plymouth, to be disposed of in Sir Cloudesley Shovell's Squadron going into the Soundings, we direct you to give orders to the Victualling Commissioners that they take special care in providing and shipping a suitable proportion of Victuals to what was in the two Ships, to be sent to Cadiz, if there shall be a suitable occasion.
You are to direct the Victualling Commissioners to let us know whether there are any empty Victuallers in the Western Ports that may be sent to Cork in Ireland for Provisions.
