Document signed by Josiah Burchett (c.1666-1746), Secretary to the Admiralty (1694-1742)

The Admiralty Commissioners have received a letter from Captain Butler, Commander of the LION at Woolwich, in which he gives an account that his Ship has received very great damage by ice in her Bows, and they have commanded me to send you a Copy of Captain Butler's letter, with their directions that you enquire strictly into this matter and give them an account as to how the Builder came to take so little care for the security of the Ship.
