In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

We are informed by Captain Hughes, Commander of the DEFIANCE, that the Ships named the other side, which are bound to the Canarys, are in need of provisions as expressed.
We direct you to give Orders immediately to the Victualling Commissioners to supply them with Provisions from Dover, so they are no longer detained in the Downs.
