In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
A letter has been received from Captain Fogg of the ESSEX giving an account of her having received considerable damage by a Danish Ship running aboard her in the Downs, a Copy of which is enclosed.
We have sent Orders to her Commander that in case she is not in a condition to keep the Sea he is to proceed to the Buoy of the Nore.
We direct you to cause her to be surveyed on her arrival there, and give us an account of her defects, together with your opinion where it will be best for her to be refitted.
