In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Our order of today's date directed you to cause the ESSEX to be surveyed on her arrival at the Nore, but having since sent Orders to her Commander in case the wind is Northerly or Easterly to proceed to Spithead, we direct you to cause her to be surveyed there, and give us an account of her defects, together with your opinion where it will be best to have her refitted.
