In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Extract of a letter from Sir Cloudesley Shovell at Spithead in which he expands on the Account of Defects seen in Item 134 above, notably that the CHICHESTER should go into dock for repair and proposing that the BOYNE be sent to Chatham and that the CONTENT and TORBAY go to Plymouth. He suggests that other, less affected, ships can be repaired while being cleaned and that others could be repaired as they are at Spithead.
