In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Enclosure: Testimony by the Paymaster attending the MARY GALLEY in which he confirms that Beddoe's wages were paid to Captain Griffith as stated in Griffith's letter of 1st January 1697 and that enquiries made with the Treasurer of the Navy revealed that no authority by which Griffith was paid was found there, neither was any letter of Attorney. It is concluded that Griffith's explanation as to how he acquired Beddoe's wages was as stated by Griffith in his letter of explanation. Signed K Edisbury.
